Acupuncture

acupuncture energy linesChinese Medicine, acupuncture, Qi,Acupuncture is a method of using fine needles to stimulate invisible lines of energy beneath the surface of the skin. This effect changes on many different levels - physical, emotional and spiritual. As well as treating disease, acupuncture may also help prevent illness by promoting the harmonious flow of "Qi", thus raising a person's level of vitality and resistance to disease.

In deciding a course of treatment, the acupuncturist needs a detailed understanding of all relevant factors. This involves questioning, observation, physical examination and examination of the pulse and tongue. Treatment is usually once per week or fortnight, but may be daily with acute problems.

James Booth practices a Japanese style of acupuncture based on "hara" diagnosis. His hands-on technique is centred on careful palpation of the stomach and neck leading directly to treatment of both root cause, and the symptoms of illness. Very fine needles and gentle moxa stimulation are used which allow the patient to relax but also to participate closely in the treatment.
